Ski de Randonnée – Bunderspitz

Un jour que nous avons passé à faire du ski de randonnéé à Bunderspitz. Une expérience unique avec Karina et Jean-Michel. Nous n’avons pas fini jusqu’à 18:00 hrs ! Nous avons eu quelques problèmes avec la descente.

Collégiale Cathédrale – Neuchâtel

A church constructed at the end of the 12th century (around 1185) with consecration 1276. Below is some photos (the ones of the organs especially for my friend Dave – hope you enjoy). Interesting to note that the organ is split into two sections housed in the "T" sides of the church.

The Monument of the courts stands in the nothern arch of the choir. This tomb and its group of statues were ordered by count Louis in 1372, with reused parts from previous tombs. Fortunately the monument was spared in 1530 by the city’s townspeople, a turbulent time when the church underwent the Reformation driven by William Farel.

Every year in Neuchâtel there is a festival to celebrate the wine harvest (Vendanges). This year I was fortunate enough to go with my Beau-Frère, Ivan. Unfortunately Peter was sick this weekend and he missed what was a great festival. One particular feature that makes this festival unique is the Guggenmusik, a style of music heavy on bass and drums with a really up-beat rhythm. It was interesting to see how most of the participants of a Guggenmusik band are able to play their instrument while drinking a beer at the same time. The fête runs for three days starting on the Friday going through to Sunday. The Sunday is finished with parades down the main streets and selection of Miss Fête des Vendages, rumour has it that in previous years the female constestants wore skimpy bikini type outfits, probably appropriate for the male audiance but at this time of year its pretty cold in Neuchâtel.

IE7 is a nightmare…….

trying to render a website as IE7 "friendly" is a nightmere. Everything mostly works well in Firefox (even the stuff that isn’t 100% compliant), IE7 is a different matter.

Going down the path of adding postion: relative to ensure the weather widget stays aligned is a path I wish I never embarked, problem after problem in IE7. It appears IE7 is not fully compliant with CSS rules or something………..

Just to think that IE8 is just around the corner……….

Have finally got around to putting the finishing details on website. A CMS is great for storing notes on just about everything. I’ve found really useful tutorials on all manner of techniques that other bloggers have contributed to the bloggersphere.

Photoshop has been an endless source as a tool for modifying and changing layouts to suit what I wanted. Today I found a really useful tool that allows subtractions from a current selection. This proved really useful when modifying images to match a background.

Notes on changing background of image (simple)
All the images had a white background so this made things easier.
Photoshop – Select – Color Range
then use the rectangle marquee tool, and choose subtract from selection. Use marquee tool to select areas to subtract.
Edit- Fill (can choose a pattern previously defined – in my case the content background)
Content background was chosen by using Edit -Define Pattern
